Angry mob in Kanungu lynched a renowned habitual criminal.

KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu are investigating circumstances under which a 30 years old Frank Nuwagaba was allegedly lynched by a mob.

The deceased who was a casual laborer and resident of Bikuto cell Southern ward Butogota town council was also a renowned habitual criminal who was just released from Kanungu prison on charges of attempted murder.

Frank Nuwagaba (Deceased) had been in court several times over cases of smoking weed and being a threat to the family members and the entire community.

It’s alleged that at about 8 PM on the fateful day of Friday at Bikuto cell, Southern ward, Butogota town council in Kanungu district, Frank was beaten by an angry mob and killed instantly.

Sources have it that the deceased invaded his immediate neighbor Tumuhebwe Mauda 50 and pierced her on the stomach using a sharp metallic object there by injuring the internal organs which caused her a lot of bleeding.

It is also believed that the deceased chased away his Mother from her House to an unknown place and has been staying in the house alone.

The Kigezi Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed to this reporter that the police were informed, who visited the scene, documented it and the victim rushed to Victorious Medical Centre in Butogota where she is admitted in critical condition.

Maate added that the body of Frank the deceased was taken to Kayonza Growers Tea Factory H/C II Mortuary for postmortem and an exhibit of a small, long iron bar with a sharp end with blood and a hoe in its wooden handle also with blood on it recovered at the scene.

Police spokesperson further said that the Statement on Murder by Mob from Butogota was registered at Kanungu Central Police station on SD.11/15/06/2024 as the inquiries are underway.
