KABALE: The Commissioner of the Parliament of Uganda, also the Woman Member of Parliament for Rubanda District, Hon Prossy Akampurira Mbabazi, has emphasized the importance of integrity and self-worth among the youth.
Hon Akampurira Prossy was speaking at the 2nd Diocese of Kigezi Youth Convention Yesterday, which is ongoing at St. Peter’s Cathedral Rugarama Hill gardens in the Diocese, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality.
The Legislator told the Youth to cultivate values within themselves that would earn them the trust and respect from others, emphasizing the significance of utilizing their time wisely, not to squander it on frivolous pursuits but to invest in education through reading and learning, which would prove invaluable in shaping their futures.
Akampurira Prossy also highlighted the importance of prioritizing one’s spiritual well-being, reminding the youth that a lack of reverence for God could lead to detrimental choices like early marriages, thus emphasizing a need for patience in all aspects of life.
In his remarks, Former Chairman LCV Rubanda District Jogo Kenneth Biryabarema, appreciated the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, Rt. Rev Gaddi Akanjuna, for organizing the youth conference, emphasizing its role in providing spiritual guidance and support to young generations facing various challenges, including diseases, moral decay, and societal pressures.
Counsel Patrick Kiconco Katabaazi, aka KP Omwojo and a prospective MP for Rukiga county, said that the sentiment of serving God limitlessly, underscoring the pivotal role of the church in nurturing and empowering the youth to uphold divine principles and contribute positively to society.
The collective message from these esteemed figures resonated with the youth, emphasizing the importance of integrity, faith, and purposeful living in navigating life’s challenges and realizing their full potential as individuals and as members of their communities.
