A section of Male Youth Councilors from Western Uganda have thrown their weight behind First Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for East Africa Community Affairs Rebecca Alitwala Kadaga, urging her to remain as NRM Vice Chairperson (Female).

The endorsement came on March 31, 2025, during a meeting at White Horse Inn in Kabale, Chaired by Rubanda District LC.5 Youth Councilor Wilfred Arinda Nshekantebirwe.

Arinda praised Kadaga as a seasoned leader who has brought people together, empowering women and young people within the party.

“Kadaga knows how to unite us, and we need her to continue,” he said, adding that “she did a lot for the Youths and women while she was Speaker of Parliament from 2011 to 2021”

Other youth leaders echoed Arinda’s sentiments, highlighting Kadaga’s leadership skills and commitment to party growth.

“Kadaga keeps NRM strong and unites people.” said Kabale District Male Youth Councilor Ronald Bagamuhunda

“She promotes inclusive leadership, and we can’t afford to lose her.” said Rukiga District Youth Councilor Tweisgye Elias

Mbabazi James (Rwampara District) said  “Kadaga is a mother in leadership. she listens  and supports people from all corners of the country.”

Meanwhile, this reporter has learnt that the Male Youths Councilors decided to endorse Kadaga after their Female Counterparts endorsed Speaker of Parliament Annet Anita Among about a month ago.

“Speaker Among met the Female Youths Councilors during the preparations for International Women’s Day, and they endorsed her to replace Kadaga on the NRM CEC. We have therefore come out to show our own side” one of the Male Youths Councilors said.
