UPDF Confirms Safe Tourism Activities in Uganda Amidst Regional Insecurity
KAMPALA-UGANDA: The Uganda Peoples Defence forces (UPDF) have Confirmed that the situation on Ugandan side is peaceful with tourism activIties in Bwindi Impenetrable national park and Ishasha sector going well unhindered despite insecurity in the Eastern DRC.
According to the UPDF 2nd Infantry Division Public Information Officer Maj Kiconco Tabaro, tourists seem busy enjoying climbing lions, herds of Buffalos, antelope and Many other animals in Ishasha sector .
Maj Kiconco Tabaro added that Bwindi is receiving tourists as usual with their security guaranteed by the Security Agencies.
“Tourists continue to enjoy Guerrilla tracking in the Bwindi and other activities of tourism are not affected in any way” Said Maj Kiconco Tabaro.
The UPDF 2nd Infantry Division Public Information Officer. added that the refugees continue to enter Uganda through Kisoro and Kanungu with 98 Congolese Policemen with their families all totaling to 114 also in the country asylum seekers
“The Congolese Policemen with their families are safe with us and are not under detention, their issue is handled at a diplomatic level between the Government of Uganda and Democratic Republic of Congo” Said Maj Kiconco Tabaro.
The further said that the UPDF is continuing to monitor the situation closely with heightened vigilance from border communities and all stakeholders at all levels.
