Kampala, Uganda – Ugandan Parliament Speaker, Anita Among, has urged the African Organisation of Public Accounts Committees (AFROPAC) to collaborate on strategies to combat illicit financial flows.

Speaking at the 5th Assembly AFROPAC in Kampala, Among emphasized that illicit financial flows, often manifested through corruption, smuggling, and tax evasion, hinder development goals and quality service delivery.

AFROPAC, comprising Public Accounts Committees from over 40 African countries, aims to promote transparency and accountability in public financial management.

The organization works closely with regional and international bodies, including the African Union and the United Nations.

As Speaker Among noted, “Illicit financial flows undermine our countries’ revenue collection, hindering development goals and quality service delivery.”

Her call to action underscores the importance of collective efforts in combating financial crimes and promoting good governance in Africa.
