Kanungu, Uganda – An Elephant Has Attacked and Killed a Farmer Instantly in a Shocking Tragedy, Leaving Many Shocked and Struck in Kihihi, Kanungu District.

The deceased has been identified as Nagaba Albert, 45, a farmer who was tending to his tomato garden near Queen Elizabeth National Park at around 5:00 AM on Wednesday.

Albert’s body was discovered by peasants while heading to their gardens, who immediately alerted the area chairperson, Owoyesigire Deus, who in turn notified the Police in Kihihi.

Upon receiving the report, the Kihihi Police OC station visited the scene, photographed the elephant’s footprints, and took Albert’s body to Kihihi Mortuary for a postmortem examination.

The Kigezi police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, stating that the body was later handed over to Albert’s relatives for a decent burial, thus highlighting the dangers faced by farmers living near wildlife reserves.

The tragic event serves as a reminder of the importance of finding ways to coexist with wildlife while ensuring the safety of local communities.
