KANUNGU: The territorial police in Kanungu have arrested three suspects allegedly for the murder of a 64 years old woman whose body was discovered on Friday found lying in her bed.

The suspects has been identified as Muhumuza Boaz 54 of Rwamuhima cell Kyamakanda parish Buyanja Sub county Rukungiri district and Ndindwamukama Nelson 24 a cook at Rovens Hotel kihihi Town council resident of Kyandago cell Rutendero parish Kayonza s/county Kanungu district.

The other suspect was also identified as Matsiko Justus 34 bodaboda rider of Rwenyerere B cell Bihomborwa Ward Kihihi Town council Kanungu district and are both alleged to have killed Scovia Nyiramahoro a resident of Rukarara cell Rwanga ward Kihihi town council Kanungu district

It’s alleged that on Thursday, the deceased who was staying with his grandson Ahumuza Chrispus 13 slept after supper and in the morning on Friday, the grandson woke up at 6:00 Am, checked in her room and couldn’t tress her and proceeded to school leaving the house open.

Their immediate neighbor one Alex came in the same morning looking for the deceased who had promised to give him 40,000 shillings for fresh coffee and found when there was nobody at home.

He called, nobody responded, moved to the back of the house and found the windows broken, the door open with all things in the house scattered, went and informed the area chairman who came and saw the house, called the Son Karenzi Denis who went and reported to police.

The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident saying that the officers visited the scene, documented it with big injuries were observed on the deceased’s head who was found lying in her bed and postmortem was done at kihihi HC IV.

Maate added that the body was taken for the burial as the inquiries ongoing with matters now registered at Kanungu Central Police Station on CRB 290/2024.
