The Uganda Road Fund Head Mr. Naimanye hands over office & Assets.
KAMPALA – UGANDA: The Uganda Road Fund (URF) Executive Director Andrew Naimanye has handed over the instruments of service and assets to the Permanent Secretary Ministry of Works and Transport Waiswa Bageya.
The Development Marks the final step in the transition process after the repeal of the Uganda National Roads Authority Act and the integration of its functions into the Ministry of Works and Transport.
The handover event held today at the ministry’s board room comes one day after the Former Executive Director UNRA Allen Kagina, the former board Chair, Directors, and the Senior Managers also handed over offices and assets to Musa Echweru, the Minister of State for Works.
The two Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) and the Uganda Road Fund were last month disbanded, with their duties reverted to the Ministry of Works and Transport.
The act followed the revocation of the Uganda Road Fund Act, 2008, and the Uganda National Roads Authority Act, 2006, which initially established the two entities.
The development comes after the passage of the Uganda Road Fund (Amendment) Bill, 2024, and the Uganda National Roads Authority (Amendment) Bill, 2024, by Parliament, on 6th November 2024.
The instruments of service and assets handover from the two entities heads are a testament to the seamless transfer of office and services, ensuring continued safe, efficient, and reliable transport services.
