Kampala, Uganda – The Directorate of Traffic & Road Safety department made arrests of 356 individuals last week for failing to comply with traffic rules and regulations.

The offenders arrested in an operation carried out on Friday, March 28, 2025, included 121 drivers found with invalid licenses, 133 cases of careless driving, 39 breaches of operator licenses, 28 instances of dangerous loading, and 35 speeding offenses.

According to Traffic Police Spokesperson SP Michael Kananura, the enforcement efforts are essential in ensuring safer roads and promoting responsible driving practices, thus urging road users to respect traffic rules and regulations to prevent road crashes and save lives.

Kananura emphasized that the support and cooperation of the public are vital in maintaining road safety, and he called upon everyone to work together to make the roads safer for all users.
