Restoring Sanity: Bwera Police Arrest 15, Bringing Total to 49 Suspects in Security Operation
KASESE: In a bid to restore sanity and security in the Mpondwe Border Area, the Bwera Police, in collaboration with other security agencies, conducted a successful intelligence operation on Friday, January 17, 2025.
The operation resulted in the arrest of 15 individuals, who were subsequently charged and remanded by the Magistrate’s Court of Bwera.
The police had earlier arrested and remanded 34 criminals who were terrorizing residents in the area and with the latest crackdown brings the total number of suspects arrested in Bwera Division to 49.
According to SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson, the operation was part of a broader effort to “clean up the Border area” and guarantee the safety and security of Ugandans.
Tumushime further Charged residents of Kasese and Mpondwe to cooperate with security agencies by providing information to help achieve their goal of socio-economic development.
This intensified operation is a testament to the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order in the region.
As SP Tumushime emphasized, “we are committed to ensuring that life and property of Ugandans is safe as per our mandate”.
