Property destroyed as fire guts an Islamic Secondary School boys’ dormitory in Mbarara City.
MBARARA: Police in Mbarara City South Division is investigating a case of suspected arson that occurred today morning where fire gutted a boys dormitory of Shuhudal Islamic Secondary School.
The school dormitory housing 202 students of S.2 and S.3 station at the school premises located in Nyamitanga cell, Mbarara City South Division is said to have cought fire at 4:00 AM.
The Rwizi Regional Police spokesperson SP Samson Kasasira told the press that Police Fire and Rescue Services responded to the scene after receiving the information and managed to put out the fire with assistance from the Nyamitanga Diocese Fire Brigade.
He added that the students housed in Darasalam dormitory were able to escape without injuries apart from one Baingana Sulaiman aged 17 years who got injuries on his back and arms
“There was a total damage to property in the dormitory but the Police Fire department was able to stop the fire from spreading to other structures” said SP Samson Kasasira.
SP Samson Kasasira further said that the cause of the fire has not been established yet with the investigations into the matter still ongoing.
