Pope Francis Commends Rev Fr Kiiza Lucas for sacrificing to serve the church.
KANUNGU: Pope Francis has commended the Parish Priest of Nyamwegabira Catholic Parish Under Kabale Diocese Rev Fr Justus Lucas Kiiza for his sacrifice in serving as a priest for 25 years.
Pope Francis’s message was on Sunday July 21st 2024 delivered by Bishop Callistus Rubaramira of Kabale Diocese at Rev Fr Kiiza Lucus’ 25th year’s anniversary celebration and the Priesthood thanksgiving held at Nyamwegabira Parish in Kihihi Town Council, Makiro Deanery in Kanungu District.
Pope Francis says that priesthood is a calling to whoever that takes it up in sacrificing the worldly things to serve the Almighty Father in heaven in ensuring that the world is a better place to live in as for the priests are called by God .
While speaking at the same function Rev Fr Kiiza Lucas Justus who is the Parish Priest of Nyamwegabira Parish appreciated Bishop Rubaramira for honoring his invitation, other invited guests and further thanked the people of Nyamwegabira Parish for welcoming and loving him as a servant of God.
A substantial amount of money totaling to Ugx 247,112,700 million was raised in cash and pledges, along with 125 bags of cement, to support the establishment and equipping of an operating theater at Nyamwegabira Health Centre III in Nyamwegabira Catholic Parish, Kanungu District.
The Minister of State Minister for Finance (General Duties) Henry Musasizi hailed the church for being a partner in social development saying that having a Theatre at Nyamwegabira will go a long way in improving the health wellbeing of the people.
Musasizi also said that the government of Uganda has finalized plans to tarmac Hamurwa – Kereere – Kanungu road to connect it with the already completed Kanungu – Kihihi – Rukungiri Road.
He added that the Government will also tarmac Kanyantoroogo – Butogota – Ruhiija – Kerere – Rubanda road to ease transport in the region and encouraged the youths to explore opportunities in sectors that the government has focused on to create jobs.
The colorful ceremony which was spiced with traditional music and was attended by Kinkizi West Member of Parliament James Ruuggi Kaberuka, Kanungu District Woman Member of Parliament Kinshaba Patience Nkunda, Ndorwa East Member of Parliament Niwagaba Winfred.
Others include; Kabale Municipality Member of Parliament Dr Nicholas Kamara and the NRM National Deputy Treasurer Jacqueline Kyatuheire, Col Emmy Katabazi the Deputy Director of Internal security officer –ISO among others.
