Police Warn Motorists to exercise maximum discipline on Roads.

KABALE: As Schools open for term II, Police have warned all motorists to observe the rules of the road and exercise maximum discipline and patience to ensure the well-being of students, teachers, parents and other road users. 

While addressing the media over the weekend the Kigezi Regional Police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate said that the Motorist must avoid destruction like using phones while driving, walking or crossing the roads.

Maate added that the Riders and children on motorcycles are required to put on helmets at all times and further warned drivers against carrying excess and interference to safe driving.

“Drivers are strongly warned on carrying excess and interference to safe driving as this contravene with the traffic laws and regulations and can lead to crashes. We call upon all motorists to observe rules of the road, exercise maximum discipline & patience while on the roads. This will minimize congestion on the road” said Elly Maate.

Maate also advised parents/guardians and adults to accompany their Children below the age of 12 to guarantee their safety and urged students to take note of the registration number of the tax or boda-boda before boarding them.

“Children below the age of 12 should be accompanied by parents or guardians and adults on motorcycles to guarantee their safety on the roads. Remember, road safety is everyone’s responsibility. Maate further urged children to take taxes and boda-bodas from recognized stages, using recognized motor vehicles for taxis with checkered band to avoid conmen and to also avoid moving with tinted vehicles or strange in a way of reducing kidnap cases.
