Overloaded Tuk Tuk Without Headlights Hit by Link Bus, One Killed

Kasese – Police in Kasese district have launched an investigation into a devastating road crash involving a Tricycle (Tuk Tuk) and a Link Bus, resulting in the loss of a passenger.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 pm when a bus with registration number UBR 626Z, driven by an unidentified driver, rammed into a Tuk Tuk heading to Kasese from Fort Portal.

According to Rwenzori East Police Spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime, the Tuk Tuk was allegedly carrying unknown passengers, was overloaded with maize, and had no headlights when the bus collided with it from the rear.

Tumushime stated that the collision left one passenger dead, and the injured were transported to hospitals and medical centers in Hima and Kasese for treatment.

The police spokesperson urged drivers and motorists to follow traffic rules and regulations to reduce road crashes, especially with schools set to reopen for the first term. Failure to comply may result in arrest and prosecution.
