Ntungamo, Uganda – Rubare Secondary School in Ntungamo District is rejoicing after achieving outstanding results in the 2024 Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) examinations.
The students, led by their head teacher, Ms. Mpeirwe Monic Atukunda, and school staff members, took to the streets in celebration, temporarily blocking a section of the Kabale-Ntungamo road.
The school’s exceptional performance earned it a “Result One” classification, indicating that all candidates qualified for a certificate and are eligible to join any higher institution of learning.
Ms. Mpeirwe, the school head, attributed the success to the hard work and dedication of the students, teachers, and support staff.
Notably, the 176 students who sat for the exams were the pioneers of the new curriculum at Rubare Secondary School, and none of them were students of the transitional examination aligned with the old curriculum.
The head teacher expressed gratitude to the teachers, School Board of Governors, PTA, and parents for their unwavering support, despite the challenges faced by the school, including a fire that gutted the boys’ dormitory on November 15, 2024.
Ms. Mpeirwe highlighted the need for additional infrastructure, including classrooms, teachers, and a library, to accommodate the growing student population, which currently stands at over 1,395 students.
She further encouraged parents to enroll more students at the school, confident that Rubare Secondary School will continue to deliver exceptional results.
