KANUNGU: A recently upgraded Mpungu Health Center IV from a Health Center III Status has received an additional boost of an emergency Ambulance to fill the Patients transportation gap to the facility.

Handing over the Ambulance to the Hospital officials the Kanungu district Chairperson, Eng. Arinaitwe Sam Kajojo said that the ambulance is a crucial addition aimed at enhancing health services within the greater Kayonza area.

The district boss Added that Mpungu’s role as part of the tourist circuit prompted this intervention citing a tragic incident that occurred 2 years back where a tourist had an accident and died due to a delay in transportation.

“The ambulance will ensure timely responses to emergencies like in transporting pregnant mothers and other emergencies within the greater Kayonza area ahead of enhancing safety for visitors. Two years ago, we had a tragic incident where a tourist had an accident in Mpungu, but due to the lack of a vehicle, rescue efforts were delayed resulting in a loss of life” said Arinaitwe Sam Kajojo.

In a District Executive Meeting on April 3, 2024 the CAO Kanungu District Awuye Abdallah, proposed a dispatch of an old Land Cruiser Ambulance UG 3780M to Mpungu Health Centre IV until a new ambulance is provided by the Ministry of Health.

The ambulance comes with a designated driver and is part of the district’s overarching mission to provide top-notch health services to all residents of Kanungu District, emphasizing the delivery of promotive, preventive, curative, and rehabilitative health services across all levels of care
