Mothers Urged to be More Vigilant Amidst Increasing Defilement Cases.
The Former Kabale District Woman Mp Ninsiima Ronah Ritah has asked parents, especially Mothers to be more vigilant and shield their girl children from the rising number of defilement Cases.
Ms. Ninsiima made the call yesterday during the 18th graduation ceremony of Holy Family Preparatory School, at Hilltop Hotel, Kabale.
She made reference to a recent incident in which a 57 year old man allegedly defiled a four year old girl in Muhanga Town Council, Rukiga District. According to Police, the man who was later tested and found out to be HIV positive confessed that he defiled the young girl while under the influence of alcohol.
“It’s unfortunate that these days, parenting duties have been abandoned to houseboys, uncles, brothers and so on. My dear parents, especially Mothers, you cannot trust your girls child with anyone. Even some fathers have been defiling own daughters, and I’m still trying to imagine how that is even possible,” Ninsiima said.
She also asked the parents to speak to their children about imminent threats from potential defilers.
“Tell your child to always report any suspicious acts from men, even if it’s their relatives. That’s how we are going to protect the future generation,” she said.
Ninsiima’s statements were supplemented by Rubanda District Woman Mp Prossy Mbabazi Akampurira who emphasized that parents must speak to their children and listen to any concerns about their social surroundings.
“At my own home we have a family meeting, and my four year old child is always giving me reminders in case we delay to meet,” Ms. Akampurira said.
Meanwhile, the Holy Family Preparatory School Director Pamela Mujuni, thanked the Parents and Well wishers for supporting the 18 year old school that she founded in 2006 with her late husband Charles Mujuni who passed away two years later. She said that pioneers of Holy Family Preparatory school were pursuing higher education as of 2024, and one of them was doing an Engineering course.
One of the Parents and the School’s Board Chairperson, Leopold Twesigye commended Holy Family Preparatory School for ensuring that the children under their care get quality education and professional child care services.
Mr. Twesigye who is also the Kabale District LC.5 Councilor representing Central Division, said that all his six Children had started their education from Holy Family Preparatory School and they were doing well at higher levels of education.
Other dignitaries present at the ceremony included the Kabale District Woman Mp Aspirant Enid Origumisiriza, the Rector of St. Paul’s Seminary Rushoroza Rev. Fr. Augustine Tumushiime and the Priest of Muhanga Parish, Rev. Fr. Prosper Rugambwa, among others.
