Minister Sarah Mateke Urges Scripture Union Leaders to promote gender equality within the Union.

KISORO: The Minister of state for Defense and Veteran Affairs (Defense) Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi has encouraged the Kisoro Scripture Union to enroll women in the upper religious leadership Positions.

The Minister was speaking at the Kisoro Scripture Union Offices inauguration ceremony, a function held over the weekend within Kisoro Municipality.

Hon. Sarah Mateke Nyirabashitsi who doubles as the Kisoro Woman Member of Parliament emphasizes a need of promoting gender and equality within the Scripture Union organization.

She further appreciated the leadership of Kisoro Scripture Union for the work well done in establishing their operational office within the district and charged them for cooperation while using the office.

The Scripture Union of Uganda Regional Coordinator Mr. Ian Abaho said that the establishment of several offices all over the country have promoted the spread of the gospel among young people with a big number joining the union on a daily basis.

Abaho urged the Kisoro Scripture Union leader Mentor many new leaders in places of bible reading and study, Gospel preaching among others many Spiritual Skill.

In his remarks the Kisoro Scripture Union Chairperson Mr. Jimmy Kakuru said that they conducted the Scripture Union Camps in 29 schools of Kisoro district, a move that has reduced Students Strikes and Demonstrations.

The Chairperson highlighted a number of their future plans which include; carrying out many Scripture Union Camps within the District, Setting up income generating activities, Construction of s conferences Hall, Buying Public address system and s Scripture Union Van among others.
