Min. Frank Tumwebaze, Rosemary Nyakikongoro Rallies Farmers to improve Agricultural Productivity in Sheema District.
SHEEMA: The minister of Agriculture, Animal Industry and Fisheries Hon. Frank Tumwebaze has encouraged Farmers in Sheema district to modernize their coffee ‘Shambas’ using best practices.
The Minister was speaking as the Guest of Honor during the Women’s day celebrations in Sheema district, a function held on Friday this week at Kasana sub county headquarters in Sheema district.
Min. Frank Tumwebaze appreciated the people of Sheema District for growing plenty of coffee thus urging them to practice Modern ways of Farming in a way of improving their produce.
Hon. Frank Tumwebaze further pledged to secure a tractor to Kitagata farm school and other two Tractors to Sheema Municipality and Sheema north Constituency.
Sheema District Woman Member of Parliament Hon. Rosemary Nyakikongoro said that they are working hard to improve agricultural productivity in the area, as the district’s economy is mainly dependent on agriculture.
She added that the majority of the women within Sheema District are involved in farming emphasizing a need of guiding them on better ways of Farming so that they can develop their Families.
In attendance was the National Chairperson women’s council Hajat Farida Kibowa, who urged the women to actively participate in government programs like Parish Development Modal (PDM), EMYOOGA, and UWEP among others.
Hajat Farida Kibowa emphasized a need of training women in mindset change and pledged to come back to Sheema district with experts to engage them.
The function was attended by all the Sheema District Legislators, Legislators from other neighboring districts, the RDC Sheema District Mrs. Purikeria Mwine Muhindo and other development partners.
