Man Arrested for Alleged Defilement of 11-Year-Old Girl in Rubanda
Rubanda, Uganda – The Territorial Police in Rubanda have arrested an old man for allegedly having carnal knowledge of an 11-year-old girl, a pupil at Nyamiyaga Primary School.
The suspect, Ahumuza Dismus 26, a resident of Rwembungu cell, Bubare town council, Rubanda district, allegedly committed the atrocity on February 17, 2025, in the evening.
According to Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate, the victim’s mother, Twinamasiko Enid, left her daughter and four siblings at home to prepare supper.
On her return in the evening, she found the children crying and was informed that a man had attacked them and had sexual intercourse with the victim.
Maate said the mother reported the case to the police, who opened a case file and commenced investigations and Dismus the suspect arrested to assist with the investigation.
He added that key witnesses were identified, with their statements recorded that further inquiries are ongoing to facilitate prosecution.
The incident highlights the importance of protecting children from abuse and exploitation. The police urge anyone with information about similar incidents to come forward and report them.
