PWD Leaders Call For inclusivity in all Gov’t Initiatives.
KAMPALA-UGANDA: Leaders of the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) in Uganda have highlighted the urgent need for more inclusivity and formulation of laws that enable their full participation in all aspects of life.
Leaders representing (PWDs from all regions of Uganda raised their concerns during their engagement with speaker Annet Anita Among at the invitation of their Member of Parliament, Hon. Bumali Mpindi.
The engagement provided a platform for the Leaders to highlight the challenges they face and propose solutions.
Among the challenges pointed out included lack of hospitals disability-friendly facilities and healthcare providers who often fail to offer them attention they deserve.
Speaking to the participants Speaker Among emphasized that disability is not inability and reaffirmed Parliament’s unwavering commitment to enacting policies that promote equal opportunities and empower PWDs throughout the country.
Rt. Hon. Anita Among further contributed to the Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) SACCO to help them start businesses, create employment, and improve their livelihoods.
