Kanungu Murder Probe Thickens, Nurse Arrested for Questioning

Kanungu, Uganda – Police in Kanungu have launched an investigation into the suspected murder of a 20-year-old female adult, Kemigisha Racheal, whose body was discovered at Kihihi Health Centre IV in Kanungu District.
The deceased was a resident of Omwirangizo Village, Kibimbiri Parish, Kabuga Sub County, Kinkiizi County, Kanungu District.
Sources indicate that Kemigisha was last seen at her home by her father on Thursday, March 13, 2025, before her mother informed him that she had gone to Kihihi Health Centre IV, where her body was discovered by a boda boda rider lying dead at the small gate of the facility.
Kigezi police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident, stating that the incident was reported at Kihihi Police Station, the officers rushed to the scene, documenting it with the help of Scene of Crime Officers (SOCO), homicide detectives, and territorial police officers from Kihihi Police Station.
In a surprising twist, the nurse at the clinic has been arrested to assist in investigations. White torn gloves were found between the body and a brown bag at the scene, and the victim’s arms appeared twisted.
Maate added that the police are still investigating to establish the possible cause of death and the motive behind the suspected murder.
