Kanungu District Strengthens Community Engagement through PDM Initiative
KANUNGU: District has reaffirmed its commitment to promoting transparency and accountability in the Parish Development Model (PDM), a government initiative aimed at alleviating poverty and promoting sustainable development.
According to Ambrose Mwesigye, the Resident District Commissioner (RDC) of Kanungu, the PDM has played a crucial role in transforming the district’s socio-economic landscape.
Mwesigye highlighted the significant progress made under the PDM framework, including the increased Access to Funds to Households to enable them invest in income-generating activities and bolster local economies.
It is also in line of Strengthening Community Engagement in fostering a sense of ownership among residents, prompting their active participation in local development initiatives.
Despite these successes, Mwesigye acknowledged the challenges faced by the district in implementing the PDM initiative of which the district is working to address and ensure the sustainable development of the community.
The PDM was launched by President Yoweri Museveni in 2022, with the aim of promoting socio-economic transformation at the parish level, focused on seven pillars, including production, storage, and marketing, to ensure sustainable development and poverty alleviation.
