Kabale, Uganda – Unknown assailants, with malice aforethought, attacked and hacked an elderly man to death using a suspected sharp object in a chilling incident in Kabale district.
The deceased, identified as Johnson Musisi, 56, a resident of Rwesasi village, Kitoha parish, Kaharo sub-county, Kabale district.
According to eyewitnesses, Musisi was brutally killed at around 10:30 PM on Wednesday while returning home from work near Kyobugombe Trading Centre.
A resident stumbled upon his body and immediately alerted the family and area chairperson, who then informed the authorities.
The District CID officer, accompanied by a team of homicide investigators and canine units, swiftly responded to the scene.
Kigezi police spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident, stating that officers conducted a thorough examination, documented the crime scene, and recorded witness statements.
Maate added that the body was transported to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination as inquiries into Musisi’s tragic death continue to unravel the killers’ motives.
“Our officers visited the crime scene, examined and documented the area, and recorded statements from witnesses. The body has been taken to Kabale Regional Referral Hospital for a post-mortem examination. We are still working to recover the murder weapon and identify the suspects as our investigation continues,” said Maate Elly.
As the community grapples with this senseless act of violence, the police assure that they are working diligently to bring the perpetrators to justice.
