Kampala, Uganda – The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba, has lauded the enduring relationship between Uganda and the United States, emphasizing the need to further strengthen their bilateral partnership.

This praise comes as a testament to the deep-rooted cooperation that has existed since 1962, when the two nations established diplomatic relations.

During a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Uganda, H.E. William Popp, at the Special Forces Headquarters in Entebbe, Gen. Kainerugaba highlighted the significance of their partnership, which has been bolstered by collaborations in various sectors, including security, health, and education.

The U.S. has been a key partner in Uganda’s development, providing substantial aid in areas such as health and education.

In 2024, the U.S. provided over $471 million in health and development assistance to Uganda, in addition to nearly $182 million in humanitarian assistance.

Gen. Kainerugaba’s remarks underscore the importance of nurturing this bilateral partnership, which has been instrumental in promoting regional security and stability.

The meeting with Ambassador Popp demonstrates the commitment of both nations to further strengthen their cooperation and address common challenges.
