Female Security officers asked to take on leadership roles in and outside the force.
KAMPALA-UGANDA: The Principal of the College of Humanities and Social Science at Makerere University, Prof. Hellen Nkabale Nambalirwa encouraged the female officers to seize opportunities and take on leadership roles to gain visibility within and outside the force.
Prof. Hellen Nkabale was speaking as the Guest speaker at the a one-day workshop for female police commanders from various parts of the country
In a workshop convened on Thursday at Makerere University Business School was attended by a total of 60 female police commanders including the RPCs, DPCs, OC stations, pilots, and other operational units.
Prof. Hellen Nkabale said that there is a need to increase the participation of female officers in leadership positions at all levels in the Uganda Police Force and other security organs in Uganda.
The Inspector General of Police Abbas Byakagaba pledged support for women in their endeavors, urging them to be disciplined, resilient, and hardworking.
The IGP added that the workshop is aimed to forge a way forward for female police commanders to excel in leadership positions.
The workshop was aimed at increasing the participation of female officers in leadership positions at all levels in the Uganda Police Force, with a focus on operational command and control.
