Double Tragedy: Two Women Die in Motorcycle Accident on Mwaro Busiga Road

Kisoro, Uganda – A Fatal Road Crash along Mwaro Busiga Feeder Road in Mupaka Town Council, Kisoro District, Has Claimed Two Lives.

The deceased have been identified as Mukanoheri Anastasia, 44, a resident of Kabaya village, Nyarubuye sub-county, and Ntakirutimana Prisca, 50, a resident of Kabaya village, Mupaka town council, both from Kisoro district.

The other two injured victims include the motorcycle rider, Vincent, from Kabaya village, who is currently at large, and Ntakisanayo Odira, 17, a pedestrian from Rurangara village, both from Mupaka town council, Kisoro district.

A tragic road accident occurred at approximately 9:00 PM on Saturday in Rurangara village, involving a motorcycle, UGD294F, Bajaj Boxer, and a pedestrian.

Witnesses reported that the motorcycle was traveling at high speed without headlights, carrying two female passengers from a burial in Busigi to Nyarubuye.

Upon reaching Rurangara village, the motorcycle knocked a female pedestrian, causing the rider to lose control, fall, and kill the two female passengers on the spot.

The Kigezi police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed the incident, stating that the scene was visited by ASP Kushaba Michael, D/T Kisoro, and his team.

Maate added that a sketch map was drawn, the bodies were taken to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination, and the motorcycle was recovered and is currently parked at Kisoro CPS pending IOV inspection.

“ASP Kushaba Michael led our team to the scene, where a sketch map was drawn and the bodies of the deceased were transported to Kisoro Hospital mortuary for postmortem examination. A thorough investigation is now underway. I can confirm that the motorcycle involved in the accident has been recovered and is currently being held at Kisoro CPS, pending IOV inspection,” said ASP Elly Maate.

Maate further confirmed that preliminary investigations suggest speeding and riding without headlights were the suspected causes of the accident, with efforts underway to apprehend the fleeing rider.
