Ntungamo, Uganda – A devastating road accident along the Ntungamo-Kabale road, near the Rubaare traffic checkpoint, has claimed the lives of two individuals and left two others seriously injured.

The deceased were identified as Ezra, a boda boda rider, a resident of the Nyakagongo cell, and Dezi Karambuzi, a village chairperson from Kyamugashe II cell.

According to eyewitness Clinton Birugwomuriwe, the accident involved a box-body truck (UBN 667W) and two motorcycles (Bajaj Boxer UFQ 805K and Senke UDM 671K).

Birugwomuriwe stated that the Senke rider was stopped by a traffic officer but refused to comply, attempting a U-turn that led to a collision with the speeding truck.

The truck, carrying bags of groundnuts from Ntungamo to Kabale, crashed into the Bajaj Boxer ridden by Ezra and his passenger, causing it to veer off the road and fall into a roadside trench, injuring the driver.

The two injured individuals were rushed to Doctors’ Referral hospital in Rubaare, Ntungamo, while the bodies of the deceased were taken for postmortem at the same facility.

As of press time, traffic police were towing the wreckage to Rubaare Police station for inspection, and the incident is currently under investigation.
