KABALE: The Deputy Resident City Commissioner for Nakawa Division in Kampala Capital City, Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha, has encouraged the public to acquire land titles as early as possible, as Kabale Municipality prepares to meet City Status.

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha was speaking at the ordination of 3 deacons into the priesthood and four seminarians into the diaconate on Saturday.

The ordination ceremony was presided over by the Bishop of Kabale Diocese, Rt. Rev. Callist Rubaramira at Our Lady of Good Shepherd, Rushoroza Cathedral in Kabale District.

The Deputy RDC emphasized the importance of acquiring land titles promptly, noting that Kabale Municipality’s transition to City Status will bring new policies enabling authorities to manage the City.

He clarified to the public that obtaining land titles under the current Freehold system will help secure land ownership, even after the municipality becomes a city.

“You might find that the majority of us here have land without titles, leaving it vulnerable to land grabbers. Everyone here must be aware that there are land grabbers out there, ready to seize any land they come across,” Said Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha.

Sheikh Kassim Kamugisha further told the newly ordained priests and deacons to preach both the Gospel of God and the message of development.

The newly ordained priests include Rev. Fr. Bruno Niyonzima, Rev. Fr. Walter Harem’Imana, and Rev. Fr. Deusdedit Uwiringiyimana while the other new deacons include; Dn. Patrick Atuzarirwe, Dn. Mark Aheisibwe, Dn. Onesmus Ahabwe, and Dn. Stephen Niwandinda.

The Ceremony was attended by several dignitaries, including the State Minister for Finance, Planning, and Economic Development in charge of General Duties, who is also the Rubanda East County Member of Parliament, Hon. Henry Musasizi Ariganyira.

Others include; the State Minister for Defense and Veteran Affairs, who is also the Kisoro District Woman Member of Parliament, Hon. Sarah Nyirabashitsi Mateke, along with many other Members of Parliament from the Kigezi region, which forms part of Kabale Catholic Diocese.
