KABALE: Kigezi Diocesan Bishop Rt. Rev. Gaddi Akanjuna, has encouraged the church leaders across the diocese to explore additional income-generating projects to support their mission work.

The Bishop said this on Saturday during a special prayer service for a newly acquired 29 passenger Coaster bus, procured by St. Luke Butobera Church of Uganda parish under the Archdeaconry of All-Saints Church Kabale.

The Coaster bus UBQ 189Y, valued at 170 million shillings, was blessed by Bishop Akanjuna at the Bishop’s Home in Rugarama Hill, Northern Division, Kabale Municipality.

At the function the Man of God said that the church needs to be innovative and resourceful in finding ways to sustain its mission.

“We should rely on the generosity of our faith and also explore other avenues to generate income that will allow us to reach more people with the message of hope and love,” said Gadie Akanjuna.

The Bishop said the income-generating projects should be ethical and aligned with the church’s values thus encouraging the church leaders to consider ventures like; agriculture, small businesses, and other sources of income, rather than depending solely on church donations.

He further appreciated the Christians of St. Luke Butobera Church of Uganda, for working together to purchase the vehicle and urged the church members to protect it so that it can serve the community for many years to come.

Rev. Judith Atwontyirwe, Parish Priest of St. Luke Butobera Church of, expressed her gratitude to the Bishop of the Diocese of Kigezi, church members, and other supporters who contributed to the purchase of the Coaster.

She noted that the church initiated the program to purchase the bus last year in July.
