Another maid Dump her Newborn Baby in a Pit Latrine.
NANSANA: Police in Nansana have rescued a newborn baby boy who was dumped in a pit latrine by his 18-year-old house maid mother around Nansana Municipality.
The baby’s mother has been identified as Ainembabazi Moreen who is alleged to have committed a crime between 6 Am and 7 Am on Monday 6th Jan 2025 in Nansana East II zone.
Moreen’s employer, Niwagaba Praise 39, a breastfeeding mother herself, raised the alarm after noticing Moreen delay in returning to the house.
Upon investigating, Niwagaba found Moreen in the pit latrine room with bloodstains on herself and the floor before she heard a baby crying inside the pit latrine.
The Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson, Patrick Onyango confirmed to this reporter that the police were notified, and a team of fire brigade personnel dug into the pit latrine to rescue the baby.
Onyango added that the baby was found alive, cleaned with warm water, and rushed to Kawempe Mulago Referral Hospital along with Ainembabazi, who was still bleeding.
The Police spokesman further said that a case of attempted infanticide has been registered at Nansana, and investigations are ongoing with the officers are plan to interview Ainembabazi to understand reasons behind her actions.
“Our officers interview Ainembabazi thoroughly to understand her actions and also intend to interview the baby’s father.” Onyango noted.
Similarly to the incident, a 25 year old mother also was arrested after she dumped her newborn baby in a pit latrine within Kasangati town council, Wakiso district.
