An Old intoxicated Man Committees suicide in Kisoro.
KISORO: Police in Kisoro District have launched an investigation surrounding the circumstances under which a suspected intoxicated old man committed suicide by hanging.
The deceased has been identified as Kabonye Girigori 56, a mufumbira by tribe peasant and resident of Gakware village Sooko parish Muramba sub County in Kisoro district.
It is alleged that at around 12:30 PM on Friday one Nyirantungane on her way on a road within Gakware village, saw the body of Girigori hanged and swinging in a tree.
Nyirantungane was prompted to make an alarm that attracted the whistle blowers who tried to cut the rope thinking that the deceased was still alive but was too late and had breathed his last.
Elly Maate, the Kigezi Region police spokesperson, told journalists that the police was notified by Kamri Fabian 33 a resident of Gakware village Sooko parish Muramba Sub County and the scene was visited and documented.
Maate added that the deceased is alleged to have had made earlier attempts of committing suicide, was a drunkard and staying alone.
The body of the deceased was examined on-site and a case of suspected suicide was also registered at Kisoro Central Police Station on DEF. 18/2024.
