An IT Officer, Land Surveyor and Businessman arraigned to Court over forgeries.
KAMPALA -UGANDA: The Anti- Corruption Unit- State house together with the Criminal Investigations Directorate (CID) and the Office of the Director of Public Prosecution (ODPP) on Friday arraigned 3 suspects before Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court on counts of forgeries.
The three include; Businessman Dungu Henry Matovu, Masaka MZO ICT Officer Kireri John, and Land Surveyor Onyango Patrick both charged with 24 counts of forgery, uttering false documents, and fraudulent procurement of title.
The accused individuals are alleged to have forged a land title and imposed it on the pre-existing title of Kulsum Patel, which comprised 267 acres in Lwengo District.
Subsequently, Dungu and others proceeded to subdivide and sell off the land, and later used goons to forcefully evict Patel from the property.
Appearing before the Masaka Chief Magistrate’s Court, the suspects were remanded until 18th June 2024 when they will re appear for hearing.
