An assailant inflicts injuries on 4 children before police shot and killed him.
KAMPALA: The Kampala Metropolitan Police are investigating a circumstance under which an unidentified man, attacked and critically cut four children asking a ransom of 5 million from the mother.
The incident occurred yesterday 29th April 2024 at the residence of Anita Ayebare, in Bongole Zone, Ndejje, Makindye Division in Kampala district.
It is reported that an unidentified assailant, armed with a panga, forcibly entered Anita’s house and the mother managed to escape from the home through the gate before raising an alarm for the residents to come to her rescue.
On realizing that the targeted woman had escaped the perpetrator turned his aggression toward her four children and inflicted injuries on them until the Police and the residents came and started asking him to surrender but refused.
According to the deputy police spokesperson for Kampala Metropolitan, Luke Owoyesigire the perpetrator attempted to escape from the crime scene through the ceiling from which the officers intervened and shot at him, killing him instantly.
The police mouthpiece added that the children were rescued alive and immediately rushed to Nalujja Medical Center, Batata Entebbe Road, for urgent medical attention as the body of an unidentified assailant was taken to the mortuary for postmortem.
