A terrible speeding Motorist Knocks down a Hippo in Queen Elizabeth and dies on the spot.
KASESE: Police in Katwe Kabatoro Division in Kasese District is Investigating the circumstances surrounding the death of a motorcyclist, living a passenger nursing wounds in a sorry state.
The Rwenzori East Region -Kasese police spokesperson SP Nelson Tumushime identified the deceased as one Asaba 19 who met a fateful day on Wednesday 15th Jan 2025 in Queen Elizabeth National Park along Kikorongo to Katunguru at Hamkungu Road.
It is alleged that at approximately 11:40 p.m Asaba riding Motorcycle UGA 359 D, knocked down a Hippo in National Park thereby causing his death living Tomothy Tumusime a passenger nursing serious wounds.
Nelson Tumushime further warned drivers and motorists using the National Park to always follow set guidelines by the Uganda Wild Life about the Road Safety.
“We strongly call upon our drivers and motorists who use the National Park to drive as per the Uganda Wild Life Guidelines of Speed Limit rest they will be arrested and prosecuted in courts of law.” Said Nelson Tumushime.

Nelson added that the rider was at a terrible speed when he knocked the Hippo and after the incident the traffic Police of Katwe Kabatoro Division rushed to the scene, the deceased was transported to Kasese Health Centre III for the postmortem examination.
