A manhunt for the suspected killers of one Ashrafu Namara launched in Kanungu by Police.

KANUNGU: Police in Kanungu are hunting for suspects who allegedly assaulted a 28 years old man, left him unconscious and died minutes later.

The deceased has been identified as Ashrafu Namara a resident of Kasiro cell, town ward, Kihihi town council in Kanungu district.

It’s alleged that on Monday yesterday at around 8 PM, Tumushabe Aisha 57 the mother to the deceased received a call informing her that she should talk to the son now the deceased and on doing so, the deceased told he hoe he was being killed by one Saddam and other 6 boys from Rutenga village. 

The mother who was at the bus park ready to go to Kampala went back home and told her son Hamidu to go and find out what had happened.

Along the way Hamidu saw people with sticks and had removed clothes of Ashrafu Namara the deceased, on seeing him, they (suspects) ran after him and managed to disappear from them.

Upon reaching home at a distance of about 1km, Hamidu informed his other brother Niwabaine Kraishi whom they went back together and found when he (deceased) crawling in critical condition and carried him to home.

While at home, the deceased told the family members that he was beaten by Saddam and other boys from Rutenga who stays at Saddam’s home and unfortunately, the victim died while on the way to the hospital.

The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confided to this reporter that the police was notified of the incident by the mother of the deceased one Tumushabe Aisha and in turn a team of officers visited the scene and documented it.

Maate added that the statements were recorded from relevant witnesses, postmortem done and body handed to relatives for burial arrangements.

A Murder Case by Assault was registered at Kihihi Police Station at CRB 180/2024 as a manhunt to the suspects still at large, launched and more inquiries also continued.
