A Couple among the suspects apprehended by Police on Electronics theft Ring in Kampala.

KAMPALA-UGANDA: Police have confirmed the arrest of some suspects apprehended on different occasions/days over an aggravated robbery case earlier reported at Katwe police station.

The suspects has been identified as one Lutaaya Gerald along with his wife one Nakigozi Catharine, Catherin’s brother, Lutaaya Syrus, Syrus’s cousin, Muyanga alias Adam.

Others include; Brian Muyanga (alias Adam), Ssekuubwa Muhammad (alias Madi), Nsimbu Musa (alias Moses or Moze), Ssekibule Abubakali (alias Bakali) and Dan Ssemanda Kadidi (alias Gideon).

The Police spokesman ACP Rusoke Kituuma confirmed to this reporter that on 6th August 2024 the officers conducted a search at Brian Muyanga’s residence and recovered items including; pangas, keys, wires, and other burglary tools from Bulenga B Zone in Wakiso District.

Rusoke added that a later search on 16th August, 2024 at Cornerstone led to the recovery of a significant quantity of stolen items, including: 106 TVs, 15 DSTV decoders, 16 woofers, 7 speakers, 2 mobile phones, 2 PlayStations, 19 scrap laptops, various tools and accessories.

The Police spokesman said that the two more suspects including; Ndabagira Ivan and Nuwamanya Emmanuel, were also arrested for buying stolen laptops who upon their arrest confessed to selling stolen items to Kizza Deogracias, who admitted to selling them to 6 individuals at Cornerstone Plaza in Kampala.

ACP Rusoke Kituuma further said that the most recent search on 18th August 2024 resulted in the recovery of more items related to housebreaking and lethal weapons, like pangas, along with the arrests of Senkya Ali (alias Boy) and Sejembe Jamir in the areas of Kasangati in Wakiso Municipality.

The Police spokesman ACP Rusoke Kituuma confirmed that the investigations are ongoing as police continue to target the network involved in these thefts.
