A fatal road accident claims a life along Kabale-Kisoro highway.

RUBANDA: Police in Rubanda district have launched an investigation surrounding a fatal road accident that claimed the life of a 33 years old boda boda rider from Kisoro district.

The deceased has been identified as Michael Mpakaniye a resident of Gahunga village Nyakabungo parish in Chahi sub county who got involved in an accident on Friday at Kyimusa “B” village Ihanga parish Bubaare sub county in Rubanda district.

It’s alleged that the deceased and the Boda Boda rider of UEX266G Bajaj boxer while traveling from Kisoro to Kabale, recklessly left his lane and there by collided with the Isuzu Elf truck UBH310C traveling from Kabale towards Kisoro.

The Boda Boda rider died on spot and the truck driver commonly known as “Deacon” got injured after the vehicle overturned with the rest of the passengers on the truck escaping unhurt.

The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed the incident and said that the scene was visited and documented by police, break down called in and both motor vehicle and motorcycle towed to Rubanda CPS yard pending inspection.

Maate added that the inquiries into the incident are at hand with the being handled at Rubanda Central Police station on the file Number TAR 57/2024.
