A family Head slaughtered by his relatives before Burning and entombing his body in a toilet.

RUKUNGIRI: The Territorial Police in Rukungiri have arrested three suspects in connection with the Murder of a 53 years old biological relative.

The suspects have been identified as Everino Mutesigensi 44, Hilda Nishaba 19 and Moses Akanjijuka 21 both residents of Mushuga village Katonya parish Nyakishenyi sub county Rukungiri district.

It’s alleged that the deceased identified as Vincent Byamukama has had a long time domestic issues with his entire family members comprising of the wife Mutesigensi Everino, daughter Ninshaba Hilda together with the grandson one Ainamani Wallboard 6 with the misunderstandings connected to alcoholism.

Last week at around 10 PM, the deceased returned home drunk and chased the wife and Hilda the daughter out of the house, remaining with the grandson Wallboard.

The two fled the home and could only return home to cook knowing that he had moved to the trading center for alcohol and returned to the bush after eating.

On Saturday last week at around 9:00 PM the suspects knew that the deceased was still in the trading center, moved home to cook as usual, and before they could have food ready, he emerged from the house with a sharp Panga, chased but didn’t get any of them.

With anger and hunger the duo remained in hiding until at around 11 PM when they returned home, found the access door open, proceeded to the bedroom where Vincent was sleeping with a sharp Panga beside his bed.

It’s further alleged that Everino picked and used the Panga to cut him on the neck, killing him instantly.

Everino and Hildah carried the body on a mattress to the rear of their compound, gathered dried banana leaves and fibers, and burnt the body after which they dumped it in their toilet which they later demolished on Sunday of 9^th June 2024.

On Thursday this week Annet the sister to the Deceased Vincent asked Hildah his daughter for the whereabouts of her brother and Hildah told her that he had fallen and died in their toilet.

Annet informed her other brother one Twesigye Angelo who mobilized residents to check in the demolished toilet from where they discovered a visible human skull, and reported the matter at Nyakishenyi Police Station and the Police at CPS Rukungiri later notified for further management.

The Kigezi Police Spokesperson ASP Elly Maate confirmed to the press that the scenes of crime were visited, examined and documented with the body later retrieved to Rwakabengo health center III for postmortem.

“Our officers were able to Visit the scenes of crime from which they examined and documented it and the body was retrieved from the toilet taken to Rwakabengo health center III for postmortem to ascertain the actual cause of the death. A walking stick sustained with suspected blood, burnt pieces of a mattress and a mat (Ekirago) were recovered from both scenes” said Elly Maate.

Maate added that the suspects were arrested and detained at Rukungiri Central Police Station to assist the Police in the ongoing investigations as a statement on Murder by cutting registered on CRB 735/2024.
