A 55 years Old woman succumbs to injuries after being assaulted by a relative in Mitooma District.
MITOOMA: Police in Mitooma District have arrested a 48 years old man allegedly for assaulting his relative who died in the hospital getting treatment.
The suspect in custody has been identified as Byaruhanga Charles a builder and a resident of Iraramira II Cell, Iraramira Parish, Kiyanga Sub County in Mitooma District, who is alleged to have assaulted Gabikwenda Dinah 55 of the same address
It’s alleged that on the 15th April 2024, Byaruhanga Charles (Suspect) told the Iraramira II LC I Chairperson, one Tumuhirwe Gorrete to inform Gabikwenda Dinah (deceased) to stop destroying his property.
The Suspect added that if the Deceased continues, he was to do something dangerous to her that would be seen by the whole village and the chairperson took that responsibility and informed the Deceased.
On the 20th April 2024, at 01: 00 AM the deceased was attacked, severely cut, and was rushed to KIU hospital and Kyosimire Immaculate reported the incident at Iraramira Police Post.
Yesterday at around 11:00 AM, the victim was pronounced dead from Mbarara Regional referral Hospital where she was referred.
SSP Marcial Tumusiime, the Greater Bushenyi Regional Police Spokesperson Confirmed the incident saying that the Police visited the Scene, documented it, recorded statements from relevant witnesses and did a Postmortem on the Deceased.
He added that the suspect was later arrested and a case registered under the file Number Vide Sd Ref 03/20/04/24 at Iraramira Police Post as more Inquiries still at hand.
