A 28-Year-Old Man detained for defiling a 4 Year Old Girl in Rukiga.
RUKIGA: A 28-year-old man, identified as Tumwesigyire Havad, also known as Nguru, has been taken into police custody in Rukiga District following his alleged inappropriate conduct with a four-year-old girl, a charge that has shocked the local community.
According to police reports, the incident occurred on Tuesday at approximately 7:30 PM. The girl’s mother had given her a mobile phone to use as a touch to the toilet and on her return about ten minutes later, the young girl reported that Nguru, a neighbor, had urinated on her legs.
Upon inspection, the mother discovered what appeared to be semen on her daughter’s legs and a wet skirt, prompting her to immediately report the incident to the authorities.
The Kigezi Police Spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed to this reporter that the police promptly responded to the report, opening a case file under CRB 316/2024.
Maate added that a team of officers visited the scene, collected evidence, and recorded statements from witnesses as for the suspect, Tumwesigyire Havad, after arrested, now held for further investigation.
“The inquiries into this matter are ongoing and once the investigations are finish, the suspect will be arraigned in court to face the charges against him.” Said ASP Elly Maate.
The arrest of Havad has raised significant concern within the local community, highlighting the pressing issue of child safety and the need for rigorous legal proceedings in such cases.
The police are expected to give updates as the investigation progresses and the case moves send in the judicial system.
