Rukiga Uganda – Properties belonging to a suspected murderer in Rukiga district, including a house, were burnt to ashes, and a banana plantation was slashed in a disturbing incident of arson and malicious damage.
The incident occurred on Friday, April 25, 2025, at around 10:00 PM in Mahira Cell, Nyakashebeya Parish, Kashambya Sub County, Rukiga District.
The properties destroyed belonged to Tumwijukye Denis, one of the suspects arrested in connection with the murder of Atwebembere Christopher Alias Sadam on April 15, 2025.

According to sources, the incident followed a police crime search at Denis’s home, where two plastic chairs with bloodstains were recovered.
A search certificate was witnessed by Twinojuni Francis, the brother of the deceased.A team of police detectives from Rukiga Police Station had conducted the search at Denis’s home in his company.
It is alleged that after the detectives’ search, relatives of the deceased Christopher Atwebembere attacked Denis’s home, burning the house and slashing his banana plantation.
The Kigezi Police spokesperson, ASP Elly Maate, confirmed that police officers from Rukiga Police Station, accompanied by SOCSO, visited the crime scene and documented the damage.
Maate added that no suspects have been arrested yet, and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible for the arson and malicious damage thus urging the public to remain calm and allow the law to take its course.
Meanwhile the investigation into the murder of Atwebembere Christopher Alias Sadam is still ongoing, with four suspects currently in custody.
