Kampala, Uganda – Uganda’s President Gen. Yoweri K Museveni has reaffirmed his commitment to designating telecom towers as critical national infrastructure.

The president was on Thursday, 24th April 2025, engaging officials from the Ministry of ICT & National Guidance, together with Uganda Communications Commission (UCC) at State House, Entebbe.

The meeting also attended by officials from American Tower Uganda (ATC Uganda) aimed at exploring venues for enhancing the security and reliability of Uganda’s telecommunications infrastructure.

President Museveni confirmed that a strategic step is to curb vandalism and safeguard communication and service delivery across the country.

Discussions also focused on the urgent need to extend electricity to remote tower sites, enabling consistent connectivity and advancing digital inclusion, especially in underserved communities.

The initiative underscores the government’s efforts to promote digitalization, improve communication networks, and bridge the digital divide in Uganda.

By prioritizing the security and reliability of telecom infrastructure, the government aims to foster economic growth, improve service delivery, and enhance the overall quality of life for Ugandans.
