More mystery in CBS journalist Jimmy Ssekabito’s death

More questions remain over the exact circumstances of the death of CBS radio journalist Jimmy Ssekabito after the police claimed there were no visible external injuries despite claims that he fell off a boda boda.

Ssekabito, 45, a resident of Gayaza in Masaka, had travelled to Kampala to attend a wedding. According to initial reports, he reportedly fell off a boda boda near the Uganda Red Cross Society offices on Rubaga Road at around 6:00 am on Friday.

Boda boda riders rushed him to Uganda Martyrs Hospital Lubaga, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. Kampala Metropolitan Police (KMP) spokesperson, Patrick Onyango, confirmed that police were notified and a team was dispatched to the scene.

“The body was examined and showed no external injuries. A death inquiry file has been opened to investigate the circumstances surrounding his death,” Onyango said.

The body was handed over to police by Lubaga Hospital and later transferred to City Mortuary Mulago for a post-mortem examination as investigations continue.
