Strictly Soul rewinds time and redefines partying

Strictly Soul Africa’s top-tier R&B experience was back in full force with a sold-out edition that blended timeless music with flawless vibes at Mestil hotel last weekend.
Kampala’s soul lovers showed up ready to sing their hearts out as DJ Akio set the tone with early noughties throwbacks like Bump Bump Bump and What’s Love.
Then DJ KasBaby took over, turning Mestil into one massive sing-along from Ja Rule & Ashanti’s Always on Time to Beyoncé’s Single Ladies and Ne-Yo’s entire heartbreak catalogue.
But it was James Ingram’s Always that sent the crowd over the edge, as fans swarmed the booth in pure RnB rapture. DJ Em brought a new wave kicking off with Isabella by Sauti Sol and sliding into Chris Brown’s Delusional; his set was an emotional ride.
With Kamuhangi and Sheilah Salta hyping the Johnnie Walker-powered event, the momentum only built, and fans left contented.
