Kanungu DLG awards Akbar Engineering Company LTD and M2K General Services Limited contracts to construct their Administration block
KANUNGU: Kanungu District Local Government has contracted Akbar Engineering Company LTD and M2K General Services Limited, to construct the District Administration block.
During a groundbreaking ceremony held yesterday Tuesday of 23rd April 2024 at the District Headquarters, the District Chairperson Eng. Sam Arinaitwe emphasized that the District lacked a standardized administration block with the outdated and inadequate facilities currently used by various departments.
He highlighted the challenges faced including, having outdated structures dating back to 1939, and stressed the importance of the new block that will be accommodating all the staff effectively.
The Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) Kanungu District Mr. Awuye Abdallah, said that the project is a significant achievement, addressing the longstanding issue of office space shortages.
He warned the contractors against the use of substandard materials but to stand by their promises, emphasizing the importance of delivering quality workmanship.
The Kanungu District Engineer, Eng. Erick Mutumba said that the material supply part will be done by Akbar Quick Engineering Services at a rate of 43,982,000 Shillings and Construction by M2K General Services at 36,472,000 Shillings.
Eng. Erick told the contractors to consider the given timeline for the project, assuring that despite design changes, the outcome would exceed expectations.
