Kasese, Uganda – Three school-going juveniles of Shalom Junior School in Kasese District are nursing wounds at Bwera Hospital facility after an overturning vehicle injured them.

The victims have been identified as Mumbere Brighton, 6, Adrati Sixtusi, 3, and Mumbere Edrick, 3, all residents of Nyakiyumbu One Village.

A devastating road collision occurred in Ndongo Village, along Bunyiswa Katojo Road in Kasese District, on Thursday after a Sino Truck (UBP 057N) failed to negotiate a corner due to rain-slicked road surfaces.

The vehicle, which was carrying marram and driven by an unknown driver, overturned and ended up on a fence at Shalom Junior School, injuring the three juveniles.

The Rwenzori East Region-Kasese Police Spokesperson, SP Nelson Tumushime, confirmed the incident, stating that the scene was visited by officers under the command of SP Tai Ramathani, DPC Bwera Division.

The police spokesperson said the vehicle has been parked at Bwera Division pending inspection, and the victims were taken to Bwera Hospital for treatment.

“Our officers (No. 39101 and UP 7642), under the command of SP Tai Ramathani, DPC Bwera Division, were able to reach the scene, from which they convoyed the vehicle to Bwera Division pending inspection, and the victims were taken to Bwera Hospital for treatment,” Nelson Tumushime noted.

Nelson added that a manhunt for the driver, who is still at large, has been initiated, as the tragic accident is under investigation by the Police in Bwera Division, Kasese District.
