Kasese, Uganda – Territorial Police at Kasese Central Police Station are holding a boda boda rider in custody for allegedly attempting to murder his wife.
The suspect, identified as Ngobi Hassan, alias Kadogo, 35, is facing allegations of attempted murder in regard to his wife, Mbambu Esther.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 pm on Thursday, March 20, 2025, in Nyakasonjo Cell, Bulembia Division, Kasese Municipality.
Witnesses reported that the victim was heard screaming alongside Kilembe Road, attracting the attention of neighbors who responded by locating her helpless body with cut arms and head injuries.
According to SP Nelson Tumushime, Rwenzori East Region-Kasese Police Spokesperson, officers responded immediately by transporting the victim to St. Mary’s Hospital, where she is receiving medical care.
Preliminary investigations suggest a history of domestic disputes between the couple, with the latest incident reported by the chairperson on March 19, 2025.
Nelson added that Ngobi Hassan’s suspicious behavior, including his absence from the scene and failure to return home until the next morning, raised further concerns.
“Preliminary findings show the suspect had a history of domestic disputes with the victim, including a recent incident reported on March 19. He was later seen fleeing near Base Camp Trading Center on March 21,” said SP Nelson Tumushime.
Nelson Tumushime further stated that upon his arrest, Ngobi Hassan was found with a panga bearing suspected blood stains, and the investigations are ongoing.
