A tourist Van slides off the Road along Kabale-Bunyonyi road.
KABALE: A section of Tourists have today 23rd April 2024 survived the accident after a van they were travelling in slid off at the muddy section along Kabale-Bunyonyi road in Kabale District.
The Chairperson Kigezi tourism cluster, Mr. Ivan Batuma said that the Road connecting to the Tourism section of Bunyonyi was recently graded after it became unfriendly to the users due to the seasonal rain.
He added that the fresh part of the renovated sections at the Road became slippery due to today’s morning downpour as rain water mixed with the soils.
Eng. Ivan Batuma confirmed to the Media that none of the tourists sustained injuries.
According to the eye witness, all other road users were left stranded for some hours as measures were being put in place to remove the Tourist Van which had shut the Road.
Incident comes at a time when the plan of tarmacking the Kabale-Lake Bunyonyi Road (15km) has remained unclear.
Several people including the leaders have severely portioned the government over the improvement of road infrastructure connectivity and access to tourist sites.
