Uganda Prisons Services Launches Recruitment Drive for 402 Prison Warders

Kampala, Uganda – The Uganda Prisons Services has announced a recruitment drive for 402 Prison Warders to fill vacant positions on a replacement basis.
According to a letter dated March 7, 2025, signed by Senior Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine Mayanja, applicants must submit handwritten applications to the Secretary Prisons Council by March 14, 2025.

As per the application requirements, applicants must submit a handwritten application addressed to the Secretary Prisons Council, accompanied by three photocopies of certificates/result slips.
Other requirements include three photocopies of the National Identity Card and three recent passport-size photographs.
Additional the applicants are required to have a letter of recommendation from the LC I Chairperson of the applicant’s village, endorsed by the LC II and LC III Chairpersons of the District of Origin.
Only shortlisted candidates will be invited for interviews, with successful applicants required to undergo a minimum nine-month basic Prisons Officer’s Training Course.
Commissioner of Prisons Frank Baine warned applicants against presenting forged documents or impersonation, stating that it’s a criminal offense punishable by law.
He also emphasized that all stages of the recruitment process are free of charge, advising applicants not to pay any money for services during the recruitment exercise.
